CHEERLEADING
Welcome to the Spring Mills Youth Football Cheer Program! Joining the Jr. Cardinals family will create unforgettable memories that you will cherish long after you transition to your high school cheerleading career. We serve as a feeder program for Spring Mills High School, and our goal as coaches is to prepare these young cheerleaders to successfully join the high school cheer programs.
Our cheerleading program supports the Spring Mills Youth Football program. We cheer at both home and away games on Saturdays and Sundays, starting in late August and continuing through mid-November. Additionally, we will perform a halftime routine for our fans. Being a Jr. Cardinal cheerleader is a memorable, meaningful, and rewarding experience. Our organization emphasizes unity and teamwork.
As a Jr. Cardinal athlete, you will learn to cheer, jump, dance, tumble, and stunt, both individually and as part of a team. You will also develop skills to be a valuable and supportive team member. Throughout this experience, you will gain self-confidence, self-respect, and build relationships that can last a lifetime!
Our main goal is to create a safe, enjoyable, and productive environment where our athletes can learn and practice the principles of teamwork, discipline, dedication, and sportsmanship. Our cheerleading program is open to athletes aged 5 to 14 in grades Kindergarten (must be 5 years old by September 1st) through 8th grade. Squads will be organized by grade rather than by experience or skill level.
We are always in search of dedicated volunteers who are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of our youth athletes. We need help with coaching, team parenting, snack schedules, and more. Volunteering allows parents to connect and build friendships with other sports parents. By participating, you’ll also teach your cheerleaders valuable lessons in cooperation, volunteerism, and work ethic.
Jr. Cardinal Families are encouraged to volunteer in some capacity throughout the season, as this is essential to the success of our program. Please stay tuned for more information on volunteer opportunities. If you are interested in volunteering or know someone who would be, please contact the cheer director or visit the volunteer section of the SMFA website today!

Dress Code / Uniforms:
To receive a uniform, you must provide a check that is undated and made out to SMFA Cheer in the amount of $100. At the end of the season, as long as the uniform is returned in the same condition it was issued, you will receive your check back. Cheerleaders are required to wear their assigned uniforms during games and events.
Required Items (purchased on your own)
- Boy Shorts/briefs
- Team Colored Socks
- Team colored Hair Bow
- Cheer Shoes
- Sweat Jacket (cold weather)
- Sweat Pants (cold weather)
- Gym Bag
- Rain poncho
Cheerleaders are required to bring their team bag to all games. Since weather conditions can change, it may be necessary to add or remove certain pieces of the uniform. The Coach or Cheer Coordinator will determine which uniform items will be worn during a game (for example, a bodysuit or jumpsuit). All team members must wear the same uniform during games. It is at the Coach's discretion to decide which specific pieces should be used based on changing weather conditions.
If any parent needs to speak with a coach, please do so after practice or after a game. Interrupting during practices or games is distracting to the team, so we ask that you wait until then. Thank you, and we look forward to another great cheer season!
