CHEERLEADING
Welcome to the Spring Mills Youth Football Cheer Program! Joining the Jr. Cardinals family will be an unforgettable experience that you will treasure long after you’ve moved on to your high school cheerleading career! We are a feeder program for our high school and our goal, as coaches is to prepare these girls to successfully cheer for Spring Mills High School Cheer programs.
Our cheerleading program will cheer for the Spring Mills Youth Football program. We cheer at home and at away games on Saturdays and Sundays starting in late August and ending in mid-November. We will perform a half time routine for our fans as well. Being a Jr. Cardinal cheerleader is memorable, meaningful, and rewarding. Our organization thrives on unity.
As a Jr. Cardinal athlete you will not only learn to cheer, jump, dance, tumble, and stunt both individually and as a team, you will learn how to be a valuable and supportive team member. You will gain self-confidence, self-respect, and relationships that will last a lifetime!
Our main goal is to provide a safe, fun, and productive environment that enables our athletes to learn and apply the principles of teamwork, discipline, dedication and sportsmanship. Our cheerleading program is open to athletes, ages 5-14 in grades Kindergarten (must be 5 by September 1st) through 8th Grade. Our squads will be divided based on grade, not experience or skill level. We will evaluate our squads and parental interest for our Competition Squad once practices have started.
We are always looking for volunteers who display an extraordinary amount of commitment and determination, ensuring that our league is a positive influence on the lives of our youth athletes to help with coaching, team parents, snack schedules, etc. Volunteering gives parents an opportunity to enjoy the comradery and friendship of other sports parents. Your cheerleaders will learn cooperation, volunteerism, and work ethic from watching you!
Jr. Cardinal Families are expected to volunteer in some capacity throughout the season. This is vital to our program’s success. Stay tuned for more information on volunteer opportunities and if you would like to volunteer or know someone that would, please contact the cheer director or log on to the volunteer section of the SMFA website today!!!

DRESS CODE
You will need a check that isn’t dated written to SMFA Cheer in the amount of $100 to receive a uniform. At the end of the season you will receive that check back as long as the uniform is in the same condition it was given to you. Cheerleaders must wear assigned uniforms during games and events in order to cheer.
Required Items that you will purchase online through the Cheer sizing dates listed above:
- Boy Shorts/briefs
- Team Colored Socks
- Team colored Hair Bow
- Cheer Shoes
- Sweat Jacket (cold weather)
- Sweat Pants (cold weather)
- Gym Bag
- Rain poncho
Cheerleaders must carry their team bag to all games. Weather conditions may change, therefore it may be necessary to add or remove pieces of the uniform. It is the Coaches/Cheer Coordinator discretion in regards to which pieces of the uniform will be worn during a game. (Example: bodysuit or jump suit)
All girls must be uniform together during games. It will be up to the Coach to decide which pieces need to be worn during the changing weather.
If any parent needs to address a coach - please do so after practice or after a game. Please do not interrupt during practices or games as this is very distracting to the team. Thank you and we look forward to another great cheer season!
